We're a Catholic church in the South Bronx with a very special and long history: saints have lived here, like St. Mother Teresa herself, as well as Sister Maura Clarke, who died as a martyr in El Salvador in 1980, and maybe you're meant to be part of that history of holiness.
From the beginning, religious sisters and nuns have made our parish special: we're the place of foundation of the Siervas de Cristo Resucitado, three of whom serve here, and we also have a contemplative community of Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity living here and dedicating their lives to praying for us in Eucharistic adoration.
From the very beginning we've been at the service of New York's immigrant community, and that community today makes us a growing and outgoing community with vibrant worship. People talk about the quality of the music and preaching they hear here.
We're also blessed by being the home of the Centro, founded in 1978, a place where thousands upon thousands of lives have been changed forever by encountering the living God on weekend retreats.
How can I become a member of St. Anthony’s?
Welcome to the family! There are two ways: find out more here.
Is it easy to get kids baptized here?
Yes! To begin the process, one of the child’s parents should stop by the office during the normal Monday-Friday office hours. More details you'll need to know are on this page.
Other sacraments too?
Sure! For Communion and Confirmation, ask at the office about our religious education program for kids and our RCIA program for adults. You can also check about availability for dates for weddings (6 months in advance, in most cases) and quinceañeras.
I haven’t been to Confession in a long time.
Our priests would be happy to help you find peace with God by helping walk you through Reconciliation. Stop by the office during office hours (Monday—Friday), or just drop by the back of church from 4—5 PM on Saturdays.
Are non-Catholics welcome here?
Of course! “Our church doors should always be open, so that if someone, moved by the Spirit, comes here looking for God, he or she will not find a closed door.” (Pope Francis) If you have any questions about our faith, feel free to ask!
